Help us raise $25,000 for Arts & Music in 2009

The Arts Matter!
Help us sustain and improve Arts & Music resources.

Did you know that:

  • We need to increase our Arts, Music and Media offerings to keep up with demand and innovations?
  • Each year we conduct an annual fund drive for a special project?
  • 2009’s Annual Project focuses on Arts & Music (Dance, Music, Theater, Film, Visual Arts and Art History)?
  • For every dollar you invest in the library, we provide $10 in services?
  • We need your support for this community treasure?

In Our 2008 Community Survey:

  • Patrons overwhelmingly rated the Arts & Music department and collections among the most important features of Forbes Library.
  • Patrons asked for more, more, more DVDs, Music CDs, Playaways, and Books on CD.

We need your support this year.

Our Wish List:

  • More circulating media in all formats
  • Additional CD and DVD display units
  • Lighting for the Graphic Novel area
  • Large glass display cases for gallery artists
  • More musical instruments to circulate
  • Professional photography of our Fine Arts collection to create a guidebook and accessible database
  • Digitization of historic photographs

Your tax deductible support of $10, $25, $100 or even more will ensure that Forbes Library is equipped to offer equitable and free access to arts resources for everyone in our community.

President Barack Obama has said:

"Our nation’s creativity has filled the world’s libraries, museums, recital halls, movie houses, and marketplaces with works of genius. The arts embody the American spirit of self-definition. To remain competitive in the global economy, America needs to reinvigorate the kind of creativity and innovation that has made this country great. … The real purpose of arts education is to create complete human beings capable of leading successful and productive lives in a free society."
