The City appropriation for this coming year is essentially level funded to Forbes Library which means that the library cannot increase services over what was done last year. Unfortunately budget cuts last year forced the library to be closed on Saturdays during the summer. Starting with the new fiscal year on July 1st, Forbes Library will once again be closed on Saturdays until Labor Day. The library will resume its regular hours after Labor Day.
"We are sorry to inconvenience any of our patrons because we know how important library services are to Northampton, especially in tough economic times," said Library Director, Janet Moulding. "We are hoping the economy will improve in the next couple of years, so Forbes can resume summer Saturdays and ideally increase open hours in the future."
Starting July 1st, Forbes will be open from 9:00 to 9:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 1:00 to 5:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 9:00 to 5:00 on Fridays. The library will be closed Saturdays and Sundays until Labor Day.
