In an effort to help save the planet, Forbes Library has started a campaign to help patrons become more environmentally friendly this holiday season. Some of our “green efforts” include a display of eco-friendly/environmentally proactive books as well as an assortment of boxes wrapped in recycled yet attractive materials. The librarians have prepared a handout with helpful hints for making the holidays less about things and more about family, friends and the planet. The library is also encouraging patrons to share their own “green tips” by bringing them in and posting them on our “Going Green for the Holidays” bulletin board. Stop by and check out some books about going green and don’t forget that the library has some great periodicals, such as “Natural Home,” that cover this subject also.
Join crafty librarian, Jen Ditkoff as she transforms an old unwanted sweater into a fabulous scarf! She will be holding this recycling workshop on Tuesday, December 11 from 3:30 – 4:30 in the Reading Lounge behind the Hosmer Gallery. Bring your own old sweater or use one of the sweaters provided.
The library is the ultimate “Green Machine”! By buying books, CD’s, DVD’s and other media and then circulating them to many members of the public, we are always recycling!
