Forbes Website Wins Statewide Award

Forbes Library's web site won second place in the web site category of the Massachusetts Library Association's 18th Biennial Public Relations Awards which took place earlier in May. Winners were chosen by a panel of independent judges from the public relations, press, and library fields. Evaluation criteria included graphic design, originality, and presentation.

The Forbes Library web site, www.forbeslibrary.org, is the online gateway to library services and collections. It is continually expanded, updated and revised to make it more accessible and inviting to patrons, and responsive to community needs. It currently contains over 80 web pages of information about the library including links to services you can access online. On the site you will find a Teen Blog, a Virtual Exhibit of items from the library's special collections, an events calendar, newly-added subject guides and local area information. The Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library and Museum has its page as does the Friends of Forbes Library. One of the most popular features of the site is the link to the library's online catalog where patrons can search the library's holdings. "The Forbes website extends library services by providing twenty-four hour a day access to information. Our site continues to grow and respond to the community and we are honored to have won this award," said Faith Kaufmann, Webmaster upon learning about the award.
