Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC)
Since 1962, the PVPC has been the regional planning body for the Pioneer Valley region and is responsible for increasing communication, cooperation, and coordination among all levels of government and in the private and civic sectors in order to benefit the Pioneer Valley region and improve the residents' quality of life. The PVPC's Web site has many areas that may of interest to the conservationist, but the Environment and Land Use page will be particularly useful. On this page are listed the services provided, projects currently underway, many of the local partners, several publications available in .html and/or .pdf formats, links to federal, state, and local resources, and staff contact information.
Springfield Materials Recycling Facility (MRF)
The Springfield MRF is a recycling organization representing Western Massachusetts and exists to promote and provide information about recycling. While thier hub is in Springfield, the MRF serves 100 communities in the four western counties of the state. Their Web site includes a list of recyclable materials, a newsletter and calendar of upcoming events, and related links.
Eco Building Bargains
Eco Building Bargains is a nonprofit enterprise of The Center for Ecological Technology (CET). Eco Building Bargains sells used and surplus building materials at affordable prices. They also deconstruct buildings and accept tax-deductible donations of building supplies. Reusing building materials saves landfill space and reduces the environmental impact of new construction.
