What did you read/listen to? The White Cat, by Holly Black

What was the book about? Give us a summary! Cassel comes from a family of curse workers—people who have the power to change your emotions, your memories, your luck, all by the slightest touch of their hands. Since curse work is illegal, they’re all criminals. But not Cassel. He hasn’t got the magic touch, so he’s an outsider—the straight kid in a crooked family—as long as you ignore one small detail: He killed his best friend, Lila. Now he is sleepwalking, propelled into the night by terrifying dreams about a white cat. He also notices that his brothers are keeping secrets from him. As Cassel begins to suspect he’s part of one huge con game, he must unravel his past and his memories. To find out the truth, Cassel will have to outcon the conmen.

Sooo... What'd you think?! It was great! I don't usually like that type of plot, but I really enjoyed it, especially the ending (which I won't give away!) and how it bridges so awesomely into the next book. There are three in the trilogy. Next one is called The Red Glove.

Would you recommend it to a friend? Definitely!

Would you recommend that we purchase this book? Yes, buy it!

What did you read/listen to? Ashfall, by Mike Mullin

What was the book about? Give us a summary! The fiction book "Ash Fall" is about when Yellow Stone National Park's super volcano explodes covering almost the whole United States in ash. The main character, Alex, is in one state and his Mom, Dad, and sister were traveling to their Aunt and Uncle's house. Alex sets out on an amazing journey to get to Aunt and Uncle's house on his way there he meets a girl named Darla after he gets seriously injured. Darla is the only person Alex can trust and they set off after a tragedy back at Darla's farm. The rest of the book is romantic and is a bit tragic. I can't wait to read the next book "Ashen Winter".

Sooo... What'd you think?! The book was great but it really left you hanging at the end to what happened to Alex's parents. I personally loved this book and made my friend read it because I thought it was that good. I recommend that the sequel is bought because it is that amazing and i want to find out what happens next.

Would you recommend it to a friend? Definitely!
